Frequently Asked Questions

The Power Handle and Brush Head FAQs

What type of bristles are used on the Brush Head?

izzo uses DuPont Tynex® bristles because they’re a brush above the rest. Made with comfortable, long-lasting, premium materials, which clinical studies show deliver excellent wear performance and greater bend recovery.

How often should I replace my Brush Head?

The American Dental Association (ADA) recommends replacing your Brush Head at least every 3 months, though some users may require more frequent replacement of the Brush Heads. Dental professionals say every 3 months is best to keep brushes effective and clean. However, if you notice frayed or matted bristles sooner, it's time for a new brush. With Subscribe & Save, you can time your refills to every 2, 3, or 4 months to make sure you always have a fresh brush on deck. Click here to learn how. Click here to learn how.

With izzo, changing Brush Heads is easy. Just twist off the old by rotating counterclockwise, then twist on the new. Download our user manual here to learn more or check out our How-To Video to see it in action.

How do I attach or remove my Brush or Polishing Head?

To attach your Brush or Polishing Head, place the neck of the head on the Power Handle tip and twist clockwise to lock. To remove your Brush or Polishing Head, hold the neck of the brush (not the bristles), twist counterclockwise to unlock, and pull the head off. Check out our How-To Video to see it in action.

What are the different cleaning modes, and which is right for me?

izzo comes with 3 cleaning modes: Ultra is high intensity; Daily is moderate for everyday brushing; and Gentle is, well, gentle. For most people, Daily is recommended for regular brushing, but for those with sensitive gums, Gentle may be your best option. As for Ultra, it's your go-to polishing setting for removing surface stains and plaque from your teeth’s enamel or if you just need more power.

How long should I brush my teeth for?

The American Dental Association recommends brushing for 2 minutes because it’s clinically proven to remove significant levels of teeth’s archnemesis: plaque. izzo has an automatic 2-minute timer. And, because plaque doesn’t play favorites, it pulses every 30 seconds to remind you to switch between each of your mouth’s 4 quadrants.
