Frequently Asked Questions

Scaling FAQs

Why should I scale my teeth?

Because food debris is better at hiding than you can imagine! izzo’s Scaler safely and effectively removes debris from those hard-to-reach areas in your mouth and helps scrape away calculus from the surface.

How do I use the Scaler?

We could tell you, but why not show you? Check out our How-To Video for a step-by-step lesson on how to Scale. Or download and view our User Guide here.

Is scaling with the izzo Scaler safe?

Designed specifically for at-home use, izzo’s Scaler is uniquely made with the strength of a medical grade polymer called Ultem®, yet has a flexible tip for safety. The Scaler has the plaque-fighting strength of metal and none of the teeth-scratching bite. Check out our User Guide and How-To Video for further direction on how to use the izzo Scaler. If you have sensitive gums or more questions, please check with your dental professional.

Ultem® is a registered trademark of SHPP Global Technologies B.V.

Is my Scaler meant to be used in place of floss?

No. Like the reactions to your smile after using izzo, they are complementary. Floss is intended to get between your teeth, and the Scaler is designed to help remove food and plaque near the gumline.

How do I clean and maintain my Scaler?

Simply clean it with warm water and alcohol, or wash it in your dishwasher.
